Missions - 16-18 February 2026: INTA Delegation to Philippines - 16-02-2026 - Committee on International Trade

A delegation of six INTA Members, accompanied by the DASE Chair, travelled to the Philippines from 16 to 18 February 2026 to discuss political, economic, trade and investment relations between the EU and the host country.The mission aimed to build upon the recent very good progress in negotiations on a Free Trade Agreement between the EU and the ASEAN country and demonstrate the Parliament's commitment to supporting the conclusion of a comprehensive agreement by the end of the year. Additionally, it provided an opportunity to address the EU's trade and economic relations with the Indo-Pacific region, as well as more global issues, such as the current endeavours to reform the WTO. Highlights - 6 May: Pascal Lamy, Sabine Weyand, Israel, economic security, Switzerland, Africa - Committee on International Trade

INTA Members will vote on the provisional agreement on global steel overcapacity, on the adoption of the non-legislative report on EU economic security, on the EU-Pakistan agreement on tariff rate quotas in the wake of Brexit, on the termination of the Voluntary Partnership Agreement with Liberia on FLEGT and on the opinions to AFET on the agreements with Switzerland and on the changing geopolitical situation in East Asia. Pascal Lamy, Coordinator of the Jacques Delors Think Tanks will present a paper on a new era of EU mini-trade deals.Departing DG Trade Director-General Sabine Weyand will exchange with Members on the State of Play of EU trade policy. Members will also exchange on the State of play of the Commission proposal to suspend certain trade-related provisions of the Association Agreement between the EU and Israel and requirements on product labelling. Members will exchange on the draft oral question and resolution on the state of play of advancing EU-Africa trade and investment relations.
