Highlights - Vote on the outcome of the negotiations on the Chemical Omnibus (together with IMCO) - Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety

On 14 July 2026, ENVI and IMCO Members will vote on the provisional agreement resulting from interinstitutional negotiations on simplification of certain requirements and procedures for chemical products (Chemical Omnibus). The Chemical Omnibus is a key proposal to simplify EU chemicals legislation (Fertilizers; Classification, labelling and Packaging Regulation (CLP); Cosmetics) by reducing regulatory burdens, especially for SMEs, while maintaining a high level of protection for human health and the environment. Co-legislators reached a provisional agreement during the first and final trilogue on 16 June. On fertilizers, the deal mandates the Commission to update registration requirements for fertilizer components while maintaining registration obligations for harmful substances. On CLP, targeted solutions on small packaging, label formatting and 15-month relabelling deadlines are introduced. On cosmetics, the agreement establishes a definition on suitable alternatives, differentiates transition periods for the phasing-out of products containing harmful carcinogenic, mutagenic or reprotoxic substances (CMR) and preserves the notifications obligation for nanomaterials.Source : © European Union, 2026 - EP

Highlights - Exchange of views with the Commission on Climate, Gender and Health - Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety

On 14 July 2026, ENVI Members will hold an exchange of views with the Commission on the interlinkages between gender, climate and health. The discussion will focus on how climate change and environmental degradation interact with existing gender inequalities and generate differentiated health impactsThis issue is increasingly recognised as central to shaping effective and equitable climate and environmental policies. International organisations, including UN Women, have highlighted that women and girls are often disproportionately affected due to factors such as limited access to healthcare, greater exposure to climate-related risks and increased caregiving responsibilities during crises. Members will have the opportunity to discuss ways to integrate gender and heath perspectives into climate policies. This includes promoting women's participation in decision-making processes and ensuring that gender-responsive approaches are embedded in climate and environmental governance. The exchange will provide an opportunity to explore how addressing these interlinkages can contribute to more inclusive, effective and sustainable policy responses. Fisheries of the Caribbean, Gulf of America, and South Atlantic; Puerto Rico Fishery Management Plan; Amendment 4

NMFS proposes regulations to implement Amendment 4 to the Puerto Rico Fishery Management Plan (Puerto Rico FMP), as prepared and submitted by the Caribbean Fishery Management Council (Council). The proposed rule would reclassify rainbow runner from a reef fish to a pelagic fish under the Puerto Rico FMP. The proposed rule would implement management measures for rainbow runner based on the pelagic fish classification, including sector annual catch targets (ACTs) and accountability measures (AMs). The sector-specific annual catch limits (ACLs) would be retained after the reclassification. The purpose of this proposed rule and Amendment 4 is to ensure that rainbow runner is managed consistent with its life history characteristics, fishing patterns, and with the Council's management of other pelagic species.
